[Battery] Steps Of Changing Battery

Messagede alfaque » Jeu 17 Nov 11 08:40

Hi All :D

I have a question here :?

if changing a new battery with the engine still running on , will it damaging the BSI or other auto electronics stuff ??
Not sure is this a better way to keep the same and not to reset the existing ECU and MFD settings. :)
Because i always did that to my previous car without problems since dun have much electronic in it

Or is there a proper way or steps to change the battery ?
This is my 1st diy to change a battery for my beauty, hopes it would not hurt her so much !!

Thanks!!

Hello

It's not recommended to remove the battery with the engine on, even if, technically, the alternator give enough power.
It's possible with older car, you're right, but now, there's too much electronic and accessories in your car. It's still possible, but not totally a safe, especially if there's an alternator failure...

The "good" way is to stop everything, and change it :D
Remove the +, then the -.
Put your new battery, then connect the -, and the +.
And be carrfull by not doing any sparks when you manipulate the +

You will not loose anything from the ECU, don't worry.
However, you probably have to set the date, hours, etc...
